Metamorphic is a single-player 2D puzzle-platformer where players control an experimental blob escaping a lab by using temporary transformations into other lifeforms.

Each transformation, only accessible at specific terminals, grants unique abilities that let players bypass obstacles, unlock new paths, and revisit previously inaccessible areas. Players explore a contained level where progress comes from smart use of form-switching and understanding each creature’s strengths.

Designed as a polished one-shot experience, Metamorphic emphasizes discovery, clever level design, and 100% completion through optional collectibles and time challenges—blending retro inspirations with modern design intent.

As Solo Developer and Designer throughout the entire production, my responsibilities included:

  • Defining the game’s USP and core transformation mechanics

  • Designing the player’s progression and unlock system

  • Establishing the level structure and overall world logic

  • Creating the visual identity, environment, and character art

  • Programming all game systems, from movement to interactions

  • Designing levels with visible but initially inaccessible areas to encourage backtracking

  • Balancing transformation use and placement of terminals for meaningful gameplay decisions

  • Documenting the game overview to maintain a clear production vision
